Traction for School Improvement (TSI): A System for Pedagogical Leadership Teams(2 days)

Target audience: School leaders, instructional leadership teams, key decision makers in schools, school owners.

Recommended to attend as a group of instructional leadership team of 5 or more.

In the 21st Century, the complexity of leading organizations such as schools continues to increase, while individual leaders’ capacity to directly manage all aspects of change is quickly diminishing. The old notion of one singular school leader working in isolation is no longer viable regardless of the skills and traits of the individual. The research clearly indicates that the most successful schools are built upon a distributed leadership approach. Combining the latest research on leadership with over two decades of experience, Insight Education Group created and launched a process for operationalizing the distributive leadership model known as TRACTION for School Improvement (TSI) in schools across the US.

This session provides participants with a practical system to implement Pedagogical Leadership Teams in their respective schools. Attendees will leave the training prepared to fully implement TSI back in their schools. TSI includes a structure for weekly team meetings, clear roles and responsibilities for the leaders and members of the team,  processes to ensure goals are identified and attained, and the three key ingredients of TRACTION focus, discipline and accountability for each individual as well as the collective team.

In this In-depth workshop, Instructional Leadership teams will learn to:

  •      Be Proactive as a team, and not reactive to daily crises.
  •      Use practical tools with the help of TRACTION Digital Playbook that provides an organizing structure to ensure focus, discipline, and accountability among the leadership team.
  •       Shift to an Implementer’s mindset, that helps transform plans to execution.
  •      Focus on the most important issues.
  •      Identify the root cause, and follow an organized strategy for resolving it.
  •      Prioritize time spent on different tasks and challenges.
  •      Ultimately, support students’ learning
