Target Audience: School leaders
Research is clear: A positive culture and climate is tied to student success. When students and staff want to be in a school, achievement increases. This workshop will give school leaders practices and processes for evaluating, establishing, and sustaining a positive school climate and culture for the purpose of improving student achievement.
Participants will:
- Recognize the necessity of developing a clear vision for education improvement round the instructional core and applying it when building a positive school culture.
- Understand the role of the school leader in assessing and creating a positive school climate including the leader’s personal leadership style.
- Identify strategies to conduct a school climate and culture assessment and use the results to develop improvement goals.
- Describe a variety of methods and programs that support the development of a positive school climate and identify actions to address climate and culture goals.
- Develop an improvement plan that includes an assessment of school climate and culture and employs and evaluates effective strategies to address needs.
